Frequently Asked Questions

About Me & My Approach

Who will be teaching my classes?

Me. I'm the studio's founder and only instructor. With over 30 years of specialised experience in movement, I bring deep expertise, consistency, and genuine care to every session—whether in-person here in Lagos or online with my international community. When you work with me, you get continuity, my full attention, and the benefit of three decades of refined knowledge.

Who is MOVE for?

I work especially closely with people in their 40s through their 80s. My focus isn't generic exercise — it's helping each person understand their own body and find freedom in how they move, often in ways they didn't think were still possible. I believe strongly that feeling part of a community is a huge part of wellbeing — moving together, making friends, showing up for each other. That's the whole idea behind the studio's name: MOVE — movement for living well. Not just living long, but living long well.

Why did you start teaching this class specifically?

This one is personal for me. I went through IVF and carried triplets, and I know firsthand what that does to your body — and how little support or honest conversation there often is afterwards. I trained in Low Pressure Fitness originally for my own pelvic floor recovery, and it changed how I understood my own body. I built ALIGN because I know I'm far from the only woman carrying this quietly, and I wanted a space where women could address it without embarrassment, and with real expertise behind it.

What makes your approach different?

It's the synthesis of rigorous expertise with genuine human connection. I don't just teach movements—I teach you. I've spent 30 years understanding how the body works, how nervous systems regulate through breath and presence, and how belonging transforms wellbeing. That depth allows me to meet each person exactly where they are and guide them toward lasting change.

Why did you move to Lagos and open this studio?

I'm half Portuguese, and I've been coming to Lagos my whole life — my family has a home here, and it's where I found love, where my children learnt to walk on Porto Mós beach, and where both our families still gather every summer. After a life spent in cities — London, Montreal, Lisbon, The Hague, and most recently fifteen years in Oxford — my husband and I knew that this next chapter belonged by the sea, close to family, at a slower pace. Lagos was never a new place for me to discover. It's the place I was always coming home to.

What is ALIGN, and who is it for?

ALIGN is based on Low Pressure Fitness, and it's designed for women who feel disconnected from their centre — whether that's after childbirth, menopause, surgery, or simply years of holding tension without realising it. Many of the women I work with have never talked about this with anyone. If you've ever felt like your core "isn't quite there anymore," or noticed changes in pelvic floor function and didn't know where to turn, this class was built with you in mind.

I've never mentioned this to anyone. Is this class going to feel awkward or exposing?

You don't need to have a pelvic floor issue at all to benefit from ALIGN — everyone does, because it works on your foundation: posture, alignment, and above all, how you breathe. That affects everything else. I have a client who started for one reason and found she had more energy, better sleep, improved posture and strength — she now genuinely looks forward to her class every week.

For those who do come with something they've never spoken about, this is a safe space to talk about it openly, without embarrassment, and without feeling alone — I gently encourage that conversation because I know how much it matters to healing and restoring. But there's no pressure to share anything. It's equally fine to stay quiet and simply learn from what others are comfortable offering.

What made you want to open a studio here?

After fifteen years building a community in Oxford, I realised the work I do — helping people move well and feel truly part of something — wasn't tied to one city. It was ready to grow. Lagos, with its wonderful international community, felt like exactly the right place to build something new. I'm here permanently, and MOVE is where I want to spend this next chapter: teaching, and growing older alongside the people I teach.

How is this different from just doing kegels?

Kegels train the pelvic floor in isolation, and for some women, at some times, that's genuinely useful. But a healthy pelvic floor doesn't work in isolation — it's part of a whole-body system involving posture, breath, and alignment. In ALIGN, we retrain the pelvic floor to respond naturally to how you breathe and move, rather than requiring you to consciously engage it all the time. The goal is a core and pelvic floor that simply work, quietly, in the background of your life — not one more muscle you have to remember to switch on.

I'm not really a "yoga and pilates" person — I play golf/tennis and just want to keep moving well. Is this studio for me?

Honestly, some of my most committed regulars started exactly where you are. Men in their 50s and 60s who've never set foot in a studio, who play golf or tennis a few times a week, and who've started noticing they're a bit stiffer on the first few holes, or their swing isn't quite what it was. That's precisely who I love working with.

What I teach is fascia-focused movement — essentially the connective tissue and mobility work that keeps your body moving freely, not just strong in isolated ways. It's not about flexibility for its own sake, and it's nothing like a typical yoga class. Think of it as maintenance for the systems your golf or tennis game actually depends on: rotation, balance, and moving well under load, so you're not losing distance or mobility to age you don't need to lose yet.

You don't need to be flexible, and you don't need any experience to start. Come along, tell me what you play and where you're feeling it, and I'll show you where to begin.

Working with Me Privately (1-on-1)

What can I expect in a private session with you?

You'll experience undivided attention tailored entirely to your body, goals, and where you are right now. I'll:

  • Listen deeply to understand your whole picture — physical concerns, confidence levels, what brought you here

  • Assess your movement patterns and fascia restrictions with expert eyes

  • Teach you a session that's completely personalised — not a generic routine

  • Teach you movements and principles you'll carry into group classes or your daily life

  • Create a safe, judgment-free space where you can ask anything and move at your pace

This is where real transformation often begins.

How many private sessions should I do before joining group classes?

That depends entirely on you. Some people feel ready after 2-3 sessions; others prefer more time to build confidence. I'll guide you based on what I observe in your body and what you feel ready for. There's no timeline—only what serves your journey. Many of my long-term clients continue private sessions alongside group work indefinitely.

Can you customise sessions for specific concerns—injury, mobility, confidence?

Absolutely. This is where private work truly shines. Whether you're recovering from injury, managing chronic tension, building strength, or simply gaining confidence in your body, I teach sessions that address your specific situation with precision and care.

What happens after my first private session?

We will talk about what you experienced and what you'd like to focus on next. Based on what emerges in your body and our conversation, we'll create a personalised path forward—whether that's more private sessions, transitioning to group classes, or a combination of both.

Group Classes with Me

Will you remember me and my specific needs?

Yes. Since I'm the only teacher here, I'll know you, your body, your journey, and your goals. That continuity is one of the gifts of this studio— I'm not a rotating instructor; I'm your teacher. I'll notice when something shifts in your body and offer what you need, often before you ask.

What's it like to be in a group class with you?

You experience the benefit of my 30 years of expertise in a community setting. I guide the class with precision while remaining attuned to each person in the room. You'll receive modifications tailored to different levels, personal attention within the group dynamic, and the additional benefit of moving alongside others who are on their own journeys. It's rigorous, compassionate, and deeply connected.

Do you offer modifications in group classes?

Constantly. My teaching is built on meeting people where they are. I'll offer variations for different mobility levels, strength levels, and comfort levels—both during class and before we start. You're never forced into anything; you're always invited to explore what feels right for your body.

As a beginner, will I feel lost in group classes?

Not if you let me guide you. I've taught thousands of people across all levels. I offer clear verbal cues, demonstrations, and modifications so you can always find your version of each movement. Many of my group members started exactly where you are. The community itself becomes supportive—you're not struggling alone; you're part of something real.

Combining Private & Group

Can I do both private sessions and group classes?

Yes — and many of my clients find this combination ideal. Private sessions deepen your understanding and address specific needs. Group classes keep you connected to community and offer ongoing support. Together, they create a complete experience of movement and belonging.

Will what I learn in private sessions help me in group classes?

Absolutely. I'll intentionally bridge them—teaching you foundational movements and principles in private sessions that you'll then experience more deeply in group classes. You'll arrive at group already familiar with the language and flow, which builds your confidence.

How do I combine them in a way that makes sense?

We'll design this together based on your goals and life. Some people do:

  • Weekly private sessions + 2-3 group classes monthly

  • Monthly private "tune-ups" + regular group attendance

  • Intensive private sessions for specific work, then sustained group practice

  • Seasonal shifts based on what's happening in your life

It's flexible and evolves as you do.

For International Online Clients

I'm one of your existing clients from Oxford. Do you still teach online?

Yes. I continue working with my established international community via live online sessions. The studio opening doesn't change that relationship — if anything, it deepens it. I've built this space partly because of that 15-year community. We're simply expanding: I'm here in Lagos in person, you're wherever you are, and we stay connected through our work together.

Can I combine online sessions with occasional in-person visits to the studio?

Of course. If you're ever in Lagos, you can experience the studio in person. Or we can maintain your online practice—whatever works for your life.

How do online sessions work alongside the studio?

You'll still receive my full attention in live online classes or private sessions.

Your continuity with me matters; I'm committed to maintaining it.

Community & Belonging

You mention creating community as central to your vision. What does that look like here?

It's woven into everything. Yes, I teach movement expertly — but I also see each person, remember your story, notice when you're struggling, celebrate your breakthroughs. I'm intentionally creating a studio culture where people feel they belong, not just attend classes.

As someone new to Lagos myself, how do you understand what this community needs?

I've spent 15 years building a beloved community in Oxford. I understand what creates belonging: consistency, genuine attention, respect for each person's uniqueness, and space for real human connection. I'm bringing that same intentionality here. I'm also living in Lagos now— I'm part of this community too, building it alongside you, not as an outsider teaching classes.

Pricing & Packages

Why might private sessions be worth the investment?

Because you get 30 years of expertise applied entirely to you. Private sessions aren't luxury — they're where transformation often happens most quickly and deeply.

You'll learn principles you can apply for life. Many clients find that a few focused private sessions shift everything.

The Bigger Picture

Why should I choose to work with you specifically?

Because:

  • Expertise: 30 years refining my understanding of movement, fascia, and nervous system regulation

  • Continuity: I'm your teacher—you're not cycling through different instructors

  • Attention: Every session is tailored to you, not a generic class

  • Commitment: I'm here permanently, building community alongside you

  • Philosophy: I teach that movement is inseparable from belonging and genuine connection

You're not just getting classes; you're getting a teacher who sees you and is committed to your whole wellbeing.

I'm nervous about being a beginner or feeling "not good enough" for this work.

This concern tells me you're exactly the person I want to work with — someone willing to show up, be honest, and grow. I've guided thousands of people who felt exactly this way.

Your body isn't the problem; disconnection from it is. That's what we heal together.

There's no such thing as "not good enough" here — only where you are right now, which is exactly where we begin..

Teacher Training

I'm a movement teacher — do you offer professional training?

Yes — alongside teaching classes, I'm a senior educator for Art of Motion, and I teach movement teachers internationally in FAMO (advanced fascia-focused movement training) and Anatomy Trains in Motion. My hope is to bring this training to Portugal and Spain, hosted right here at the studio, for teachers who don't want to travel to Northern Europe or further afield to access it.

This isn't currently a fixed, scheduled offering — it will run once there's enough interest from teachers in the region. If you're a movement professional who wants access to advanced, internationally-recognised training closer to home, register your interest below and I'll be in touch as soon as a course is confirmed.
